Oral Examinations

Ideally twice a year, you'll allow your dentist the opportunity to identify any oral health issues and create a plan to treat them accordingly.

The dentist will examine your mouth, closely checking the health of your teeth, gums, jaw and bite. Exams may also include dental X-rays and other diagnostic procedures.

Regular oral exams give your dentist the opportunity to identify any oral health issues and make a plan to treat them accordingly.

During your exam, your dentist will take a close look at the health of your teeth, gums, jaw and bite. Exams may also include dental X-rays, CBCT (cone beam computed tomography) systems and other diagnostic technologies and procedures.

Oral Cancer Screening

Oral cancer can affect any part of the mouth or surrounding tissues. During your exam, your dentist will check the face, neck, lips, tongue, throat, tissues, and gums for any signs of oral cancer which are difficult to detect with the naked eye.

Oral Health Care at Home

Keep your smile healthy year-round by brushing your teeth twice a day for two minutes each time. Floss at least once every day.

Hygiene Cleaning

Your dentist will perform a deep cleaning of your teeth before or after your exam to prevent and treat disease.

To start, a scaler will be used to remove any tartar and plaque buildup before the dentist uses a polisher and coarse toothpaste to remove any remaining plaque or stains. Finally, your teeth and gums will be flossed thoroughly.

Fluoride Treatment

Are you or your child at high risk of tooth decay? If so, your dentist may also recommend a fluoride treatment. Fluoride is a natural mineral that can help to rebuild the minerals in your tooth enamel and reverse or prevent tooth decay.
